Baking powder is a raising agent and is an essential ingredient for gluten free cake making, used to add volume and lighten baked goods such as cakes. It also makes a great natural cleaner - blend with a little water to make a paste to clean stainless steel surfaces, or use a gentle scourer for cleaning surfaces.
